Community Guidelines
Last Updated: January 1, 2026
DuckyTrack is a community built on the joy of sharing rubber ducks and tracking their travels. These guidelines help keep our community fun, safe, and welcoming for everyone — from seasoned Jeep duckers to first-time cruise ship finders.
1. Be Respectful
- Treat all community members with kindness and respect.
- Harassment, bullying, hate speech, discrimination, or personal attacks of any kind are strictly prohibited.
- Remember that people of all ages — including children on cruise ships — interact with this platform.
- Respect other cultures, backgrounds, and languages. DuckyTrack is a global community.
2. Appropriate Content
All user-generated content (photos, messages, guestbook entries, duck names) must be appropriate for a general audience.
- No nudity or sexual content — photos must be suitable for all ages.
- No violence or gore — keep it family-friendly.
- No hate symbols or offensive imagery — this includes slurs, discriminatory symbols, or extremist content.
- No spam or advertising — don't use duck names, messages, or guestbook entries for unsolicited promotion.
- No personally identifiable information — do not post others' real names, addresses, phone numbers, or other private information without their consent.
3. Honest Tracking
The integrity of duck tracking data is essential to the DuckyTrack experience.
- No fake scans — do not log scans for ducks you haven't actually found.
- No GPS spoofing — do not falsify your location data.
- No self-scan farming — scanning your own ducks to inflate stats defeats the purpose.
- No automated scanning — bots and scripts are not permitted.
- No code guessing — attempting to generate or guess valid duck codes is prohibited.
Our anti-fraud system monitors for suspicious activity. Flagged accounts are reviewed by moderators.
4. Photo Guidelines
- Photos should show the duck, its location, or the context of the find.
- All photos must comply with the content rules above.
- EXIF data (GPS coordinates, camera info) is automatically stripped from uploaded photos to protect your privacy.
- Photos up to 20MB are accepted. We support all major smartphone formats including JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, TIFF, BMP, and GIF. All photos are automatically resized to 1080px width and converted to WebP for optimal web delivery.
- By uploading a photo, you grant DuckyTrack a license to display it on the platform and our official social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, Reddit, Discord, TikTok, and YouTube) for promotional, community, and editorial purposes. See our Terms of Service for full licensing details.
5. Free Tag Guidelines
- Free printable tags are for personal, non-commercial use only. For commercial use, bulk licensing, sponsored duck programs, or business partnerships, please contact [email protected]. See Section 10.3 of our Terms of Service for full commercial licensing details.
- Do not create tags with inappropriate text or images.
- Tag generation is rate-limited to prevent abuse (10 tags per month for free accounts).
- Tags must only be used with the DuckyTrack platform — do not redirect QR codes to other websites.
6. Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines:
- Use the Report button available on all user-generated content (photos, messages, profiles, duck pages).
- Provide a brief description of the violation.
- Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, typically within 24-48 hours.
- Content with 3 or more pending reports may be automatically hidden pending review.
7. Consequences
Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- Warning — first-time or minor violations will receive a notice.
- Content removal — inappropriate content will be removed.
- Temporary suspension — repeated or serious violations may result in a temporary account suspension.
- Permanent ban — severe or persistent violations will result in permanent account termination.
8. Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may appeal by contacting [email protected] with your username and a description of the situation. Appeals are reviewed within 5 business days.
9. Updates
These guidelines may be updated from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the platform. Continued use of DuckyTrack after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
