Tap to Track: NFC Duck Tags Have Hatched

Big news, Ducksters — DuckyTrack now speaks NFC. Finding one of our ducks is about to get even easier: just tap your phone to the tag and the duck's whole travel story springs open. No app, no typing, no squinting at a tiny code. Tap, and you're in. 🦆

So… what is NFC tracking?

NFC (Near-Field Communication) is the same tap-to-pay tech already living in your phone. We tuck a tiny chip right into the duck's tag, so when a finder holds their phone close, the duck's journey opens instantly — every city it's visited, every finder who waved hello, every mile it's logged.

NFC turns the whole experience into a one-second tap — it's fast, it feels a little bit magic, and it's perfect for the moment someone first discovers your duck in the wild.

Prefer the classic route? Our printable QR tags are still free on the website — design your own and stick them on any duck. Here's the simple way to think about it: QR is the free, do-it-yourself option, and NFC is the premium, pre-configured tap-to-track upgrade that comes ready to go in every Duckling Pack. Two ways to track — pick whichever suits your duck.

How the claim code works

  1. Tag your duck. Pop the NFC tag and the sticker onto your rubber duck.
  2. Claim it. Head to DuckyTrack.com, enter your claim code, and give your duck a name.
  3. Set it loose. Leave it on a trail, a shelf, a Jeep, or a cruise-ship railing — and watch the pins roll in.

From that moment on, every time someone taps or scans your duck it adds a fresh chapter to its story — and you get pinged in near real-time. 📍

We're putting ducks in the wild

To kick the flock into gear, we're handing the very first packs to the folks who'll love them most. We've stuffed a bunch of duck gift bags — each with a duck of its own and a premium tap-to-track tag — and we're giving them away so finders can start tracking ducks of their own.

Starter gift bags — headed to duckers on land and at sea.

Here's where to keep your eyes peeled:

  • 🛻 Central Florida Jeep duckers — we'll be surprising random Jeeps around the area with gift bags. If you get ducked, you might just get a DuckyTrack starter kit with it.
  • 🚢 Carnival Paradise, July 12–16 — sailing out of Tampa to Cozumel, Mexico. More than 100 little ducks will be tucked into hiding spots all over the ship, just waiting to be discovered by guests.

Find one? Here's the rule of the flock: tap or scan it, say hello, then pass it on — re-hide it for the next lucky guest, or take it along on its next adventure. Either way, every tap drops another pin on the map and the duck's story grows. 🌎

Join the hunt

This is just the beginning. Here's how to get in on it:

And we're only getting warmed up — more new features and updates are hatching over the coming weeks, so keep an eye on the site. 🐣

Tap a duck. Track a duck. Set one loose. Welcome to the next chapter, Ducksters — we'll see you out there. 💛
